To Market, To Market....

Hi Everyone!  It's that time of year again...   We all know March means lots of new releases for the Nashville Needlework Market!  Lots of eye candy for sure!

I have a few new samplers to present this year.  Photos are below and more details can be found in the links to the right ------------------->

Miss Mary Barker 1830 reproduction sampler - I just loved these two birds when I saw the antique!  I think they should be given names... any suggestions?  The colors just pop on this sampler!  There are a few specialty stitches, a couple of eyelets and some over one but just a bit here and there.  There are also some queen stitches in the red flowers along the bottom but I have also included a cross stitch alternative for those wanting to keep it simple :))

Here is another Mary sampler, Miss Mary Dickinson 1842 reproduction sampler - In this sampler I loved the cotton candy colors used and how the house reminded me of the Victorian style houses with painted trim we see today.  The verse said a lot to me and I think Mary wanted her true friends to remember her as they knew her in their hearts.  It is unusual to see a sampler stitched by a 17 year old.  I truly wish there was more to learn about Mary.  I did research the verse and found that it was popularly used on transferware in the late 1700s and early 1800s, examples of which are included in the chart.  

And my third new release is a sweet reproduction of an antique wool work sampler, E. Dalton 1847 - The Beekeeper's Cottage - I thought it was such a sweet scene with the red-roof cottage and bee skeps with bees buzzing about.  What an idyllic little place!  Looks like the perfect little cottage for a stitching retreat!  I stitched two versions for models, one was done on perforated paper and the other was done on linen, both with DMC threads.  The first one I finished with a layered look on a wooden decorative board and the second I sent to Vonna, The Twisted Stitcher, for some wonderful finishing magic!  She made a beautiful flat fold presentation with Lady Dot Creates trim.  

There are so many wonderful new releases coming out this March at Market!  We are truly so fortunate to have such an array of choices to suit all of our stitching moods!
