No green beer here, but my corned beef came
out so yumm-o! :D
This past IHSW I
dedicated all of my stitching time to Rachel Hyde. There are five shades of green making up
these vines so there was a lot of changing threads! Just wondering how the rest of you do this
when stitching with many different colors in a small area, do you thread up
several needles and switch as you need to or thread up each new color when the
time comes?
Love the eyelet stitches now mixing with the rice stitches
in the alphabet….
Since I have done further than expected in the first ‘step’
of the SAL, I am going to return to Elizabeth Hancock for the next week or
two. It would be nice to get to the finish
line on one of these BAPs…
so I can start another! LOL

This is a lovely piece! As for the threading bit, I do it the long and hard way: thread up the needle each time!! LOL I guess I could have multiple needles going on, but knowing me, I would loose a bunch and end up pricking my bottom!!!

I try to avoid from the chart which called for many colors in small area, but often substitute with the variegated threads so that I won't have to change the colors frequently. I like the way you think about having a new start upon finishing one among a few WIPs. I'm following right behind you for that!

Ah, I love Rachel! She's so pretty! Great colors! I'm weird when it comes to changing thread colors. I rarely use more than one needle. I have done it once in a while, but most of the time I just use the one needle and just switch colors.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching! I love the eyelet and rice stitches. I don't care for frequent color changes, but I only use one needle. I have a hard time just keeping up with the one. :)
ReplyDeleteRachel is so nice and coming along well. I only use one needle no matter how many colour changes although I doubt that I've ever been working with five shades of one colour so it's an idea I'm going to keep in mind!

The first time I attempted them I thought "oh my! how is this going to work?" but I love the texture they add. Look forward to following the progress on your projects!

ReplyDeleteAs for changing colors, I usually change as I get to the colors(except for my HAED pieces which I park threads on).
