Finally... a SDW finish!

Yes, the journey on SDW has come to an end!

I stitched fast and furious this past weekend to finish for the Scarlet Letter Year Challenge.

SDW a German Band Sampler
36ct flax linen with dmc thread

This has been such an amazing SAL journey and I treasure the friendships I have made along the way. From every motif to every band, I enjoyed each and every stitch.

Across the top I took out the blackwork band and decided to repeat a band from the bottom.  I also charted a few lines from a Goethe poem in German which seemed appropriate since SDW is a German sampler.  Its translation is "I am with you, however far away you may be" and is a dedication to my SAL mates.

I love, love, love the floral bouquets in this band.  The church had me exhausted at one point and all but done in!

With the alpha bands I changed out the bottom row to include the first initials of everyone in the SAL.

In the smaller alphas I found a spot for my own initials and the year.

A BIG thank you to all of you for your support and encouragement along the way!  Happy Stitching!  xxxx

Getting closer!

Good morning Everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and having fun!

I am getting closer day by day on SDW and finally have hit bottom!

SDW German Band Sampler

There is still the bottom corner to do, more flower bands, and the very top band for which I am planning on adding a special verse.

I hope the next time I will have a finish to share with you!

More SDW and More Snow!

Ok, snowing here again!  Looks like the groundhog was right yesterday.... more winter, more snow!

At least more snow means more stitching!  A good thing since I have challenged myself to finish SDW by the end of the challenge by the 20th of the month!

Another two bands complete.....lots of pretty flowers reminding me of Springtime...

I think this storm today was just a preview of what is to come the rest of the week!  Here are a few snowy pics from today......

Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my last post and all of your encouragement on SDW!!

Have a wonderful week!  Happy Stitching!  xxxx

IHSW Report: Moose and Brownies!

Hi Friends!

I am a few days late with my IHSW report but I had to make a few tweaks to this design last night doing a switcheroo on some of the colors.  But here is my first ta-da! (right off the hoop!) of the new year, the Moose Parade!  A super fun design!

And here is a snap of those brownies I made a few days ago.... tastes just as yummy with olive oil!  SUCCESS!

Hope you are all having a great week and keeping warm!!  We are back in the deep freeze again the Northeast!  Here is Gigi keeping warm :D

Happy Stitching!!  xxxx

TGIF!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Friday!

I am really looking forward to this weekend's IHSW!  Since I have the holiday on Monday off, I have plenty of time for stitching and hermitting!

My hope is to finish up the mooses WIP which was a Christmas gift so needs to get finished!

Once that is complete, I can then get back to my Scarlet Letter WIPs and hopefully get a finish in before the end of the challenge next month.

I am also looking forward to the SAG awards on Saturday.  Love watching all the red carpets shows and hoping that my faves win!  One of my faves this year is American Hustle, great story with a twist and awesome 70s music and fashion.

I also started a new book, Luncheon of the Boating Party by Susan Vreeland.  Only about 20 pages in so far and love it already.  Isn't that the best when that happens!?  It takes place in Paris and is about the artist Renoir.

I just finished Vreeland's Girl in Hyacinth Blue and was fascinated with how that was written about the history of a painting and the story of each owner who owned it before all the way back to the artist.  All fiction of course but fun just the same.  I really enjoy doing family trees so this was an interesting take on that concept.

Ok, have to run now.... I am baking brownies and my oven is beeping at me, all done!  Can't wait to see how they come out... I realized I had no canola oil in the house so I used olive oil instead!  hmmmm, Italian brownies?  Will let you know how it goes!

Have a wonderful weekend!  I hope to have a finish to show you after the weekend!

Happy stitching!  xxxx
