June stitches and more!

Hi Everyone!

I went back and put a few more stitches into the Blackbird SAL.  The eyelets, while pretty, seem SO time consuming!  16 stitches to each one!  I debated on going backwards and trying something different but I do like the effect so onward she goes...

And, of course, I have something new too!  lol!

I have started up with Hannah Pepper, one of my bucket list stitches!  There have been a few finished Hannahs posted on facebook recently and they finally gave me the push I needed to pull out my Fine Lines issues.  I also want to thank Mary and Ellen for their thoughts on color options.  I have figured out my palette using a combination of what is called for and some that are not.

And so she begins too....  already I am thinking "is the red red enough??"  lol

Since moving to Connecticut I love seeing all different wildlife in my yard...  chipmunks, ducks, wild turkey, egrets, foxes, and deer, but imagine my SURPRISE when I found a BEAR outside my back door!!  Unfortunately, I was not quick enough to get a pic, but it was amazing to see.  It looked like a young adult and I think it was just as surprised to see me too!  So sorry no picture, but this pretty deer was very willing to strike a pose...

Last weekend I went to a Weissbier festival at the local German restaurant.  Weissbier is a wheat beer which makes it a bit sweeter.   Perfect and refreshing for a warm summer evening.  Prost!

So that is all for June...  it has been very exciting watching all the World Cup coverage.  GO USA!! I am glad it will continue into July, along with Wimbledon tennis!

Have a great week!  Happy Stitching!  xxxxx

I agree with you on the Blackbird SAL. I don't enjoy eyelet alphabets and usually change them to something else. I have put mine away for a while until I figure out what to do with the color of that alphabet. I saw it done recently in a dark color and I may try that.

I am also getting ready to start Miss Pepper!! All the recent finishes have spurred me to pull out those issues as well but I think I will wait until later in the summer to start and give myself a chance to finish some of the things in my current rotation. It will be fun to see how they both progress!! laura

Krista, you are going to love every stitch of Miss Hannah! She's one of those projects that lets you prove something to yourself as a stitcher.

Can't wait to see her come to life with the color choices you've made.

Those eyelet stitches may take a long time, but the effort will be worth it--that is looking so pretty, Krista!! I'm looking forward to seeing your Hannah Pepper sampler progress, too :)

A bear?!! Yikes--now that would terrify me... Hope they stay more in the forest for the rest of the summer!

Have a relaxing 4th!!

Hi Krista.

It's fun seeing your thread colors and your progress on Hannah. We'll have to keep cheering each other on on this sampler.

Hmm--a bear. Yikes! We have one on the loose in Cincinnati (first time I've ever heard of one in Cincinnati), but luckily he's on the other side of town.

A bear....we have them running around Southern CA. too....just not in my backyard... and that is okay by me :) Hannah Pepper is on my list to stitch too, I have loved her since I first saw her. Yours is simply lovely and I love your color choices. Yes I think your red is great....BBD is beautiful as well. The eyelet stitches may take longer but they look so great when finished. Enjoy your 4th!

Your samplers both look great. I don't mind the eyelet stitches too much. They are certainly better than queen stitches!

We have deer come visit us, but never a bear! It would have escaped from a zoo if one did.

It can be a process choosing your own colors ~ love the ones you've chosen for Hannah. And the eyelets can be time consuming, but so pretty. I think I would be stunned to look out and see a bear. It sounds like you have a wide assortment of critters that visit ~ I would love that. :)

Yes, you are so right, eyelet stitches are very time consuming, but I agree with Jo, by all means better than Queen stitches, lol.

Oh great, you have started Hannah Pepper. A really great sampler. And when 356 is involved it's always a great colour combo for me. BUt you are right, it's not really a bright red. So I'm curious to see if your stay with it.

Wow, Krista! You are making good progress on the BBD sampler and Hannah is off to a great beginning.

There are several bear in our neighborhood along with the other wildlife. While they can be destructive, I prefer them over the copperheads.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
